Sensory Walk (Test)(work in progress documentation), 2025, 35mm colour photographs, collaborative event with Platform DIS, Waal River, Nijmegen, NL

Sensory Walk (Test) documents a developmental event held on October 24, 2025, conceived as an experimental testing ground for an ongoing feminist science-fiction (SF) project. The session was designed to trial sculptural costume components — silicone frog footprint wearables and copper ear-pieces — developed to subtly alter participants’ movement, listening, and sensory attention in relation to landscape.

Rather than functioning as finished objects, the wearable sculptures operate as speculative tools: they introduce minor bodily and perceptual shifts that invite participants to experience their environment differently, foregrounding questions of evolution, adaptation, and relational perception. The walk unfolded collectively, with peers moving through a shared landscape while attending to sound, balance, rhythm, and bodily awareness.

The event functioned as a collaborative research moment, generating feedback on the material, sensory, and experiential dimensions of the work. Insights from this test directly inform a series of participatory scene-making events planned for spring 2026. Within the larger project, Sensory Walk operates as an early experiment in embodied world-building, using modest interventions to explore speculative evolution, feminist futurity, and collective imagination beyond dominant human-centered frameworks.
